What have I done?

Everything around is broken. Shattered. Smashed to pieces.

My hands are stained with not only blood but guilt as well, for I have taken the life of an innocent. Lucius has already disposed of the body by means of the Floo network, but it does not mean that I will not be investigated by the Ministry. What a poor, sweet soul. As the green jet of light was about to hit his battered and helpless form, his brilliant grey eyes were illuminated. I could see it in his eyes: terror. It was then that I realized...the prophecy had been fulfilled. Madame Pomfrey was right.

I don't know what overtook me. It was as if my wand was moving on its own. Perhaps it was drawn to the hatred residing in the darkest depths of my soul. Perhaps it was because he held the captivation and adoration of Lucius.

Draco is dead. I have no regrets.

My darling Lucius, I'm having a bit of a crisis and I need husbandly advice. It concerns my sister. The acknowledgeable one.

You see, she apparently thought that the blood traitor and Mudblood party was a good opportunity to attempt an attack, and she was pursued there by some Aurors, who were thankfully crushed along with her. I'm quite relieved to no longer be an aunt in any sense; it isn't fashionable. However, the "with her" part of the equation is the problem, because as you can tell, she was crushed as well.

I know that our Lord will be most displeased if she is not restored to him, as she could be quite useful, but I'm not inclined to assist her. You see, we've been fighting ever since that dinner party where she called my Evil Chip Cookies "overcooked" and said my Vokda Mudblood Slides were "too heavy" and "didn't have enough Mudblood" (as if we'd let their foul blood touch our lips the way she does!) Just because she likes her Evil Chip Cookies raw doesn't mean they were "overcooked." She kept laughing at me all the time. She said I was a poor mother for not regulating our son's weight, and a poor follower for not contributing more to our Lord. However, I don't know if making no effort to restore her would be Evil or disobedient. Please advise me, my love. I don't know what course to take.

And Draco, that does not mean a dinner course. If I have to, I'll make you wear one of your late aunt's corsets to the Conference to present a better figure.

I seem to remember that one of your pureblood classmates started to release some cosmetics, and I am starting to feel inspired to finally start my own line. Tell me, do you think she will be any competition? I will exclusively sell to purebloods, of course. Our lessers do not deserve to have such a fine product touch their skin.

With Draco having returned from France, there has been little time or reason to use this method of interaction, and I have found that it has blended in so well with its surrounds that I find myself paying little notice. As much as it loathes me to say this about a muggle device, I find myself quite contented with the flavour they have added to the rooms.

Speaking of rooms, it has been wonderful to see Draco's reactions to the Manor's changes! I am exceedingly pleased that he is back and can now actively partake in the design process, as every cultured young boy does. He and Pierre do get on exceedingly well, and I think that Draco will help tone down Pierre's....sometimes extravagant taste.

On the topic of Pierre, he has suggested this style of lamp for the North Lodge. I find it a little too decorated for my tastes, but it is only for one of the guestrooms.

Draco, Lucius, your opinions?

There is one niggling factor which bothers me about this manner of communiqué, which mainly relates to the mudbloods, half-bloods and generally substandard plebeians which also inhabit this...whatever it is. The Potter boy and Weasley girl look as if to be the worst offenders, with their ill bred manners polluting all who venture near. As much as I respect Monsieur Dumbledore as an educator, I am not pleased that my little boy must dally with the lesser than on such frequent occasions compulsorily!

Lucius is currently at his meeting, and I find myself quite at a loss for something to accomplish. The manor renovations are coming along quite nicely, with Lucius' wing almost entirely completed. Finding the right Persian was indeed the most difficult part of this particular section of the manor. Pierre and I were concerned when we had nearly reached the end of our list of suppliers, but luckily at the last minute we found one which suited the furnishings perfectly. It has now been installed, and it seems the room is quite homely with the added dimension a Persian can bring.

The emptiness of the manor, disregarding the help, seems to be a feeling to which I am finding myself experiencing more as the years go on. Lucius' business frequently calls him away nowadays, and Draco, at sixteen, is now old enough to come and go as he pleases, not to mention his absence from the manor during the school months.

I have had these moments of contemplation once or twice throughout the course of my married life, and I think, perhaps, it is once again time for me to begin a hobby of sorts. My father, a gentleman of leisure, was an avid hunter and I inherited his unique ability to target. He, too, found this problem of restlessness to be quite disquieting at times, and as successful as I have been in my past pursuits, I feel the need to do something unusual.

I received correspondence from Draco today. He is enjoying the holiday immensely, and has said that it has been a wonderful experience for him, rich with culture and spirit. I cannot say how proud I am of my baby, his dedication to his education is such that he would willingly take this opportunity to learn! It is no wonder that he is one of Hogwarts finest students.

Severus is now coming for breakfast, so I must let the elves know about the added diner. I am extremely concerned about him. His behavior tonight suggests that he is indeed experiencing a great deal of emotional disquiet. I’m sure Gigi would be perfect to work out the kinks in his neck and back, but he seemed reluctant when I offered tonight. Perhaps when he is in a more amiable mood tomorrow.

It seems to have taken a great many days to suit this archaic muggle artifact to the decor of the Malfoy Manor, and even longer for it to meet my standards. Lucius was most pleased that I was able to co-ordinate with the Blacker Than Thou décor of his study.

As you heard previously from my darling Luc, the Manor is being redecorated. Given the sheer size and magnitude of the Manor, this is indeed not a task can be taken lightly. Of course, I am no stranger to this sort of task, given my keen eye and my keener decorating sense has made me quite a wanted woman in the designer circle. I am, however, my own woman and will not be bound by the restrictions others would give me in that position.

I have found myself an assistant of sorts, a young vibrant man by the name of Pierre recommended to me by Adrienne Baddock back when the Dining Hall was redesigned. Draco was particularly taken with Pierre's sense of style, but Lucius was less than pleased when Pierre suggested to do his wing in various shades of violet and turquoise.

Both Pierre and I are currently deliberating over the furnishings of the west wing entrance, as well as the colour scheme. Lucius, if and when you see this, would you please tell me if you'd rather:

or
Or would you prefer something, dare I say it, darker?
